Facing the Storm with Faith: Lessons from the Bison

Link to the articke: HERE

Did you know that while most animals run from storms, the bison charges straight into them? This powerful creature knows that facing the storm head-on is the quickest way through it. What if we approached life’s challenges the same way? In a world filled with trials and uncertainties, the bison teaches us a profound lesson about courage, faith, and perseverance. Join me as we explore how facing our storms with faith can lead us to strength, growth, and victory.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

James 1:2-4 (NIV)

Introduction: The Bison and the Storm

While most animals run from storms, the bison walks straight into them, knowing it’s the quickest way through. Like the bison, we are called to face life’s storms head-on, trusting God to guide us through.

Key Verse: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." (James 1:2-3)

1. Storms Are Inevitable

Comment 1: Storms are a natural part of life, just as Jesus warned in John 16:33: "In this world, you will have trouble."

Comment 2: Running from trials only prolongs the struggle. Facing them head-on, like the bison, allows us to grow and trust God more deeply.

2. Facing the Storm Builds Strength

Comment 1: The bison doesn’t face the storm because it’s easy—it does so because it knows the struggle will make it stronger.

Comment 2: Romans 5:3-4 reminds us that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope. Trials are not meant to break us but to build us.

3. God Is with Us in the Storm

Comment 1: Just as the bison relies on its strength, we rely on God’s presence and promises. Isaiah 43:2 assures us: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you."

Comment 2: We are never alone in our storms. God walks with us, providing strength and guidance every step of the way.

4. The Storm Will Pass

Comment 1: The bison knows the storm won’t last forever. By facing it head-on, it shortens the time spent in the storm.

Comment 2: 2 Corinthians 4:17 reminds us that our troubles are "light and momentary" compared to the eternal glory they achieve. Storms are temporary, but God’s promises are eternal.

Conclusion: Walk into the Storm with Faith

Call to Action: Be like the bison—face your storms with faith, knowing God is with you and that the storm will pass.

Key Verse: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, give us the courage to face our storms head-on, trusting in Your strength and promises. Help us grow through every trial and emerge stronger in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
